Here are my favorite books so far this year 2023. If you look carefully, you will see that I repeat many authors over and over. That's because anything they write turns to gold for me and will always be 5 stars. If you are wondering how I collected all the books in the series so far, I have Kindle Unlimited to thank for that large bit of luck. Then also NetGalley for a couple, and bargain prices on e-books for the rest. There is nothing better than discovering a new-to-me author and then bingeing out on their backlist!
*If you are considering reading the JD Kirk series about DCI Logan, a few things to know. Kindle Unlimited has had most of his books for "free" if you are a member. Kirk is a Scottish author and he uses many words or phrases that I'm not familiar with, but I understand in the context of the sentence. Also, his characters curse, alot. More than a lot, actually. All the time! But since most of it is in Scottish slang, I don't care. Shite doesn't bother me, nor does bollocks. As for the others, I don't care... because who knows how Scottish constables really talk? JD Kirk (Barry) has a wonderful blend of crime fiction mixed with snarky banter between all the detectives. This is a lot harder than you would think, but somehow he blends those two elements together and that is what I am there for the most-- that banter and those realistic relationships.
